Enemy in the Sky is a synth pop duo from Rochester, Minnesota showcasing the unique talents of Kara Dupuy and Eric Kramlinger. Kara, a classically trained pianist who used to tour with the post-punk band, Boys Night Out, pairs her catchy melodies and heartfelt lyrics with Eric’s dynamic live drumming. Their music spans from energetic and “dance-y” to soulful emotional, creating a sound that moves both the heart and the feet. Enemy in the Sky’s first single, No One Will Ever Know, is out now on all streaming services and their debut album is set to be released in January 2025.

Thomas and the Shakes is a rock band from Elgin, MN formed in 2013 by Thomas Wescott on guitar and vocals, and Garrett Kolb on his one-of-a-kind “shaker” drum kit; hence the name “Thomas and the Shakes”.

Minneapolis loud boys, Valors, are Ian Valor (vocals/guitar), Tanner Montague (drums), and Chad Hofland (bass). Since their debut album, Everyday Saints, they’re dishing up a fiercer sound – a no-apologies tribute to 90s rock, fueled by the relentless energy of a hungry honey badger. Their latest offering, “Play of Fools,” is a rock and roll feast of smoky vocals, woofy bass, and lots of riffs, drum solos, and scorching guitar solos.

Amanda Jay is passionate about participating in the rich, vibrant local music scene in Rochester MN, where she resides with her three kids. Amanda’s life experiences and misadventures in love have given her a canvas with which she paints her painfully honest lyrics. Set to foot-tapping riffs and rhythms, Amanda often weaves heartbroken lyrics into a catchy tune. Her faith, strength, and resilience ring clear through her debut EP, “Blue.” Her sophomore album “Mirror Mirror” was released January 2024.
Pullstring

Pullstring is the modern everyday man rock band putting to words what it’s like to be a young adult. Hailing from the Twin Cities of Minnesota, they arrived on the music scene as venues began to open up following the lockdowns of the COVID19 pandemic. Their brand of MN Power Pop is influenced by many artists throughout the decades and brings what fans call “nostalgic vibes” to listeners. Pullstring’s palette of sounds ranges from bittersweet melancholy to upbeat anthems.
In the past couple years as a band, Pullstring has gone on tours and played to packed venues and festivals around the Midwest including 7th St Entry, Turf Club, the Maintenance Shop, KURE Fest, and Northwoods Rock Rally.

Samantha Ryan is board president of That Theatre Company and has lead several productions in the Rochester area for multiple companies. She has directed and performed in over 50 shows, musicals, cabarets and revues.

Ben Mulwana is a Ugandan-born and raised artist residing in Wisconsin. Expanding on his singer- songwriter roots, Ben’s recent project “Ben Mulwana and the Village” is a 4 piece Afro-soul rock band that fuses dance worthy grooves with hard hitting lyrics to produce uniquely soulful songs about love, loss, and the spaces in between. With the help of multiple creative influences by the diverse backgrounds of the band’s musicians, Ben’s songs have been hailed as “goosebump-inducing nourishment” by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and are sure to leave you wanting more.

From beauty to grit, sadness to silliness, the common thread is that this crew loves music, and playing it together, and it shows.

Saltydog

Saltydog is a jam band from Duluth. Been playing since 2018 though the current lineup didn’t come together until 2023. Heavily influenced by folk songs and rock and roll songwriting as well as jazz and funk music.
Saltydog consists of six Duluthians that got tight from playing weekly residency gigs and weekend country bar get downs. Two studio recordings have been released as well as dozens of live recordings available on streaming and bandcamp.

Sharing the stage with national acts from Smash Mouth to Mihali of Twiddle and also playing music festivals throughout the Midwest, the Post-Bulletin has said Push & Turn makes “original material that adheres to a policy of positivity” and that “attendees appreciate the inclusive, danceable approach the band brings to its shows”

Kat and the Hurricane is an all-queer and trans synth rock/indie-pop band from Madison, WI composed of guitarist/vocalist Kat Rhapsody (they/them), keyboardist/vocalist Benjamin Rose (they/them), and drummer Alex Nelson (they/them), often joined at live shows by bassist Mega Omega and vocalist Candace Griffin. The band has stirred up a storm across the Midwest since 2017 thanks to their energetic live shows, strong sense of community, and genre-defying songwriting. While preparing their debut full length album, Got It Out, the group has appeared at several regional and national festivals, completed 4 regional and national tours, and received the coveted Artist of The Year award from the Madison Area Music Association.

Starting out in Minot, ND, Dakotah Faye has gained a lot of notoriety in the Mid-West. With his ability to not only rap, but also excel in other genres. He began making music in his bedroom back in 2009. Mixing new and old in a perfect blend of rap/pop. Working with artists like Rittz, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Tech N9ne, Afroman, mgk and more. His critically acclaimed album hell was boring is a personal dive into the mind of a former addict. Using stories of pain and triumph. He hopes to show you a new perspective through his music. Oh, and Dakotah Faye Doesn’t Exist.

Faith Boblett

Faith Boblett is a Minneapolis based singer-songwriter with roots in northern Minnesota, and was named one of 2018’s Best New Bands by First Avenue. She began writing her own music at age thirteen, shortly after teaching herself to play the guitar. Though Faith was raised in a musical household, she has been persistent in finding her own voice through songwriting and performing. Her goal? Timeless songs. Boblett brings her own brand of pop, Americana, rock, and alt-country (aka she’s “Minnesota’s grungy Sheryl Crow” -Jordan Alamat).
LAAMAR

LAAMAR is the latest project led by Minneapolis-based singer, songwriter, saxophonist, and composer Geoffrey Lamar Wilson. Former frontman of Brooklyn-based Jus Post Bellum, Wilson is also known for his multilayered looped saxophone performances and catchy podcast ditties (Terrible, Thanks for Asking). On the band’s debut EP “Flowers,” Wilson blends his idiomatic inspirations bridging folk, soul, R&B, and country with a constant ear toward racial and social justice issues and the shared human experience.

Yonder is an emerging Minneapolis-based Alt-Americana band with a heavy edge. Leading ladies Hattie Peach (violin, vocals) and Emma Jeanne (rhythm guitar, vocals) began experimenting as co-writers in their Duluth dorm room years ago. Peach’s heartfelt folk storytelling and Jeanne’s punk rock sensibilities harmoniously blend in their writing. Joined by Oliver Gerber (Lapdogs) on lead guitar, Dylan Hilliker (Greentop) on drums, and Calvin Carrison (Big Delicious) on bass, Yonder fuses influences from their previous local projects into a fresh, eclectic sound. They’re set to soon release their debut EP, Momento Mori.

Colin Bracewell

A Minneapolis-based, Canada-bred singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, Colin Bracewell is paving his own pop-folk-rock path within the Midwest music scene. Releasing his debut EP in March of 2024, Bracewell collaborated with Minnesota-based band Bad Bad Hats to result in a catchy blend of indie-rock and intimate ballads. Bracewell has also had several sold-out shows at First Ave’s 7th St Entry, airplay on Minnesota’s The Current, and recently had his biggest show yet at the Fine Line March 14th for his “Cozy” EP Release. Colin’s 4 song EP, Cozy, delivers a taste of genre-hopping songs served with the pop hooks that he is known for.

”honeygrl” is the brain child of Rochester, Minnesota native Abbey Doerre. This alter ego was born out of a deep love for music, connection, and celebrating one another’s identities. Throughout the past two years Doerre has established her place in the Rochester/Minneapolis music scene as a creative force to be reckoned with! She has performed at the 2024 Minneapolis Pride Festival, the 2024 Mall of America Spring Music Festival in the Rotunda, as well as many other breweries and cafes around the state. With influences ranging all the way from Phoebe Bridgers, to Fall Out Boy, honeygrl is an artist you won’t want to take your eye off of.
Kiss The Tiger

At a time when the world seems intent on pushing us further inward and further apart, Kiss the Tiger are here to rattle our bones and bust us out of our cocoons with some good old fashioned rock and roll.
Fronted by the magnetic and disarming Meghan Kreidler, who draws on her background in theater to break the fourth wall between audience and band with her righteous fist pumps and high kicks, this is a band that doesn’t just play. They combust. And watching them set the stage ablaze, it’s hard not to feel that tension that’s been built up in all of us these past few years slowly release, too, like a collective exhale set to ratcheting guitars, buoyant bass lines and Kreidler’s perfectly pitched screams. Theirs is a clean-burning fire. Hell, you might even call it healing.

No one has ever left a performance with their own socks. “Socktopus is really cool” – George Washington “Socktopus is really cool” – Matthew McConoughey. Celebrity is all they have ever known. And now they’ve come to flood Rochester Thaw with that sweet sweet sound.
Socktopus is made up of five members: Corndog the guitar and chorus guy, Mikey and Mario the wordsmiths in the front, DJ Money Makin’ Ben on the beats in the back, and Chili Weebz on bass and backing vocals.
