HUMBIRD
After traversing 5 continents and 20 countries with only a guitar and a backpack, Humbird returns home to sing songs from the edge of the world. Combining a wintry longing with the warmth of a familiar folktale, Humbird stretches traditional genres of folk and Americana to embrace the unexpected. This music invites a refreshing dissonance into the house, it leaves breadcrumbs along the path and reflects light back at the stars.
Creating music out of a mosaic of influences like Joni Mitchell, Bon Iver and Bill Frisell, Humbird weaves it all together with powerful lyrics and a stubborn pursuit of the sound of the North. The release of Humbird’s double EP “Elsewhere” and “Where Else” in Summer 2017 is just the beginning.

SLEEPING JESUS
A failed move to New York and new love was just the existential dilemma Minnesota’s Nick Elstad needed to give life to his indie dream pop project, Sleeping Jesus. 2016 saw the release of the Perennial EP, a hazy and sweet four song journey of young love and the beautiful foolishness that accompanies it. The now five piece group went from basement to the main stage at First Avenue in one short year, picked as one of the best new bands of Minneapolis in 2016.
The groups new EP, “House Plants”, due out September 1, was pulled together during the Minnesota winter of 2017. Like an Aural Lens into the life of Elstad over the last five years,”House Plants” contains both the most recent songs (COAST) and nearly one of the first songs he had finished (Gold Shades). Self indulgent and yet honest to the kaleidoscope of emotions evoked by the songs of “House Plants”, the EP plays out more like a series of existential ramblings than pop tunes. The four songs are a personal and linear view of fleeting youth, wasted days, and young love.
House plants hanging from cracked plaster ceilings. Propped up in the perfect fingerprint stained sunlight. Beautiful and unaware of time. Innocent of the seasons. Unnoticed and growing quietly through the years.
